hololive Dreams Scoring, Combo & PERFECT System

Learn hololive Dreams judgment tiers, combo rules, PERFECT chains, score UP skills, life recovery, and rank thresholds for rhythm stages.

Last updated:

Every chart in hololive Dreams converts your timing into a numeric score, a combo counter, and a clear grade used for missions, event ranking, and holomem board progression. Unlike pure arcade rhythm games, hololive Dreams also pipes performance into Leader and member skills—Score UP, combo protect, and life recover—so scoring literacy directly affects RPG growth. This guide explains judgment labels, how combo works, and what counts as a full combo or all PERFECT run.

Judgment tiers

When a note reaches the judgment line, the game assigns one of several tiers. Exact millisecond windows can vary slightly by difficulty, but the relative ordering is stable:

JudgmentEffect on comboTypical score weight
PERFECTIncrements comboHighest base value
GREATIncrements comboModerate reduction
GOODIncrements comboLow value; avoid in ranking
BADBreaks comboMinimal or zero
MISSBreaks comboZero; may drain life

PERFECT is the top tier you should aim for when pushing leaderboards or three-star mission requirements. GREAT still builds combo and is acceptable for casual clears. GOOD keeps combo alive but contributes little score—long GOOD chains often fail rank thresholds even without a visible combo break.

Hold notes judge at the head and tail separately. A PERFECT head with a GREAT tail still adds combo twice but lowers average judgment for songs that track per-note accuracy.

Combo mechanics

Combo counts consecutive notes judged GREAT or better (GOOD usually counts but verify on your difficulty—hololive Dreams treats GOOD as combo-safe on standard charts). BAD and MISS reset combo to zero unless a member skill intervenes.

Combo multiplies score during most stages. The multiplier steps up at fixed combo milestones—commonly every 50 or 100 notes depending on chart length. Missing once late in a song can cost more points than several early GREATs because you drop from a high multiplier band.

Some event rules require minimum combo or max combo achievements separate from final score. Check stage conditions before equipping skills.

PERFECT chains and display

A PERFECT chain tracks consecutive PERFECT judgments only. GREAT breaks the chain counter even if general combo continues. UI may show a gold PERFECT streak distinct from the white combo number.

Finishing a chart with all PERFECT (often abbreviated AP or FC+ in community terms) is the strictest accuracy goal. Songs with holds and flicks require PERFECT on every segment—including hold ticks if the chart includes intermediate samples.

Practice mode can filter results to show only misjudged notes, which speeds up AP grinding without rereading entire charts.

Life, fails, and recover skills

Story and some free lives stages attach life pools. MISS and sometimes BAD reduce life. At zero life, you fail unless a continue item or event rule allows revival.

Member life recover skills trigger based on conditions such as combo milestones, skill gauge fill, or leader ability timers. They do not restore missed score but prevent hard fails during learning runs.

Combo protect skills consume gauge or limited charges to preserve combo (and sometimes multiplier) across one or more misses. They rarely restore lost life—pair with recover skills for unstable charts.

Score UP skills and leader bonuses

Score UP effects multiply note values or add flat bonus points during windows tied to leader activation or member concert skills. Because multipliers stack with combo bands, activating Score UP during high combo yields disproportionate gains.

The Leader slot often defines the primary Score UP pattern—timed burst, passive small boost, or PERFECT-only bonus. The five members contribute secondary triggers aligned to note types: for example, bonus after hold streams or after flick sections.

Optimizing score is therefore both a rhythm task and a team-building task. Reference Skill Trees & Holomem Board when investing materials into Score UP nodes.

Rank thresholds and stars

Clear results typically assign letter ranks (S, A, B, etc.) or stars from one to three based on score percentage of a chart maximum. Maximum theoretical score assumes optimal judgments, full combo, and skill usage aligned with chart length.

Three-star requirements often sit near 95–98% of theoretical max on hard charts. Two-star lines may forgive a handful of GREATs. One star usually means clear with life remaining regardless of accuracy.

Event scoring may use separate event points converted from base score with character bonuses. Those modifiers display on the pre-chart squad screen.

Full combo versus clear

Full combo (FC) means no combo-breaking judgments for the entire song—BAD and MISS absent; GOOD and GREAT allowed unless the mission specifies PERFECT-only. Community trackers may log FC separately from AP.

Clearing without FC still completes story stages but may block challenge missions or holomem board tasks that explicitly demand FC or AP.

Improving score efficiently

  1. Stabilize timing in Settings before chasing ranks.
  2. Learn flick and hold sections in isolation via practice slices.
  3. Equip Score UP skills aligned to your weakest sections, not only highest raw values.
  4. Save combo protect for known killer bursts rather than early trivial segments.
  5. Revisit Controls if mechanical errors cluster on one note type.

Squad synergy snapshot

Your six-character party (one Leader, five members) does not change judgment windows, but passive traits may widen GREAT to PERFECT margins slightly or add score on PERFECT-only streaks. These traits are small compared to raw input accuracy—invest in player skill first, then optimize holomem investments via Starter Picks and roster planning on the Characters page.

Understanding scoring end-to-end separates players who clear content from players who dominate event ladders. Once judgments feel predictable, shift focus to skill rotation and long-term roster growth.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about hololive Dreams.

Does GREAT break a PERFECT chain?

GREAT does not break combo, but it breaks a PERFECT-only chain or streak if the skill or mission requires consecutive PERFECT judgments. Score is lower than PERFECT even when combo continues.

How much does combo affect final score?

Combo multipliers ramp through bands on longer charts. One late MISS often hurts more than several early GREAT hits because you lose higher multiplier tiers for the remainder of the song.

Do skills change judgment windows?

No. Skills change score multipliers, combo protection, and life recovery—they do not widen Perfect or Great windows. Adjust note speed and offset in Settings instead.

What causes a stage fail?

Life reaching zero on survival stages, or failing clear conditions such as minimum score or combo on challenge missions. Life recover skills and member passives help prevent early fails while learning.
